香港人口老化问题严重，政府近年来投放了更多资源，以应付长者社会福利和医疗需要。除了增加资源外，我们亦要更多具专业技能与知识人才，以了解及照顾长者需要，如知道认知障碍症的原因，照顾患上该病的患者、能有效地推行社区护理及运用日趋普及的乐龄科技等。为配合老龄社会需求，岭南大学开办「健康及社会服务管理社会科学硕士」课程，培育社福界及医疗保健服务界等人才，以助长者更投入「耆」妙生活。
