Entering students are assumed to have the necessary mathematical background including three semesters of calculus, onesemester of linear algebra and at least one semester of mathematical probability using calculus prior to attending Brown.Students who have not taken the probability course will be strongly urged to take this in the summer before matriculation.

STEM, 10 courses （7 required & 3 elective)
1、课堂size小，20人左右，每位同学被分配advisor以指导选课和research
2、按学分收费，选课自由（cs、ds课程都可以选）
3、项目氛围偏ds，不想读博做bios，想直接就业ds，da可以考虑
因为大多数同学都是以找工作为主，有意向申请phd的同学不多，所以申请起来难度也没那么大，系里会提供1-2个转博机会，算是一个兼顾就业与升学的好项目
