Applicants must answer the following questions in their personal statement:
1. Please outline your motivation for applying to this programme.
• Why are you seeking a conversion degree in Psychology of Education from the University of Bristol?
• How will this degree contribute to your longer-term career goals?
2. Please outline your previous experience (paid or unpaid) of working in educational settings, with young people, and/or with people with psychological support needs. In your answer, please address:
• The length of time of your previous experience.
• How you believe your previous experience relates to psychology and what you have gained from these experiences.
3. A substantial part of the conversion programme is a dissertation project, an independent piece of empirical research which you will complete under the supervision of a member of academic staff.
• Please briefly outline the type of dissertation project you would like to complete (e.g. the topic area, methods, population etc.) and how it might align with the research expertise of staff or research groups within the school.
(Note that you will not be committed to these ideas – we just want you to demonstrate that you are familiar with the research strengths of the school and have thought about how they align with your own interests and skills.)
