项目介绍
The Master of Architecture program promotes a creative, open and supportive environment emphasizing advanced and personalized instruction through small class and studio courses. The School’s resources, including-state-of-the-art digital laboratories, a dedicated architecture library, acclaimed lecture hall and exhibition center, digital and wood model shops and the new BuildLab, are enhanced by the interdisciplinary opportunities offered by the other schools and colleges at the University of Miami. Located in the southeastern U.S. in close proximity to the Caribbean and Latin America, the School also participates in an international network to enable students and faculty to develop an understanding of architecture and culture in an increasingly globalized world. In addition, the School of architecture Rome Program offers graduate students an intensive experience in design, theory, and history of architecture with U-SoA faculty at the Schools private Rome studios.
U-SoA faculty are joined each year by internationally recognized visiting scholars and fellows. The diversity of faculty interests and experience offers opportunities for students in the selection of studios and in the exploration of diverse areas of professional concentration. Students immerse in contemporary challenges to address a variety of social, cultural, technological and programmatic contexts. Students are encouraged to get involved in various research projects located within the School’s various labs, and to pursue a certificate in an area of professional concentration.
Graduate M.Arch. students are expected to pursue an independent Design Thesis project in their last semester. Design Thesis is an opportunity for each student in the Master of Architecture or Master of Science in Architecture (Architectural Design Track) to define an individual position with regard to the discipline of architecture. Normally, Design Thesis occurs during the final two semesters of a student’s curriculum at U-SoA, and includes Directed Research (ARC 699) and Final Degree Project (ARC 610).
Two tracks are available to obtain the M.Arch. degree:
The Master of Architecture I is a 3-year (7 semester program) for students holding undergraduate degrees in non-design fields. Completion of 105 credit hours is required.
The Master of Architecture II is a 2-year (4 semester program) for students holding a pre-professional degree in architecture or a closely-related field. Completion of a minimum of 60 / maximum of 66 credit hours is required.
